Michael is a partner in the Sydney office of Holding Redlich and practices in all areas of workplace relations with a special focus on occupational health and safety. Michael’s expertise includes:
- industrial disputes, litigation and coronial enquiries;
- occupational health and safety;
- protection of confidential information and restraints of trade;
- all forms of employment contracts, including executive contracts;
- the Fair Work Act 2009 and the interpretation of industrial instruments;
- transmissions of business;
- company restructuring including advice in relation to outsourcing, organisational change and redundancy; and
- internal workplace investigations and dealing with investigations by regulatory agencies.
Michael acts for a diverse range of clients including construction and manufacturing companies, media, education and not-for-profit organisations and government bodies. Before joining Holding Redlich, Michael’s practice included acting on behalf of WorkCover NSW in prosecuting breaches of the Occupational Health & Safety Act (NSW).
Michael has extensive litigation experience in employment disputes and defending occupational health and safety prosecutions and regularly appears in State and Federal Courts and Tribunals. Michael is a regular presenter of seminars and training on workplace issues, in particular on occupational health and safety issues.

Gary Rowe is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Safety Action Pty Ltd and has over 25 years’ experience in managing safety and risk management programs. His key specialities include; safety leadership & culture, safety systems, independent advisor and facilitator roles, risk assessments and independent audits. His other areas of expertise include coaching managers and supervisors in leadership skills.
Gary was previously Deputy General Manager at Richard Oliver International, OHS Manager of National Safety Council of Australia, Inaugural Safety Co-ordinator for Swinburne University, Safety Engineer for the Department of Agriculture, Structural Engineer and was originally a mathematics and science teacher.
His professional memberships include, the Institution of Engineers Australia, the Australian Institute of Risk Management, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and he is a Fellow of the Safety Institute of Australia. Gary is a non-executive director of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Victoria and the chairman of its Governance Committee.

Joel Zyngier

Joel Zyngier is a member of the Employment and Industrial Relations department at Holding Redlich and has experience acting on behalf of corporations and individuals in a variety of matters. His areas of practice include:

Prior to joining Holding Redlich, Joel was an Associate at the Australian Industrial Relations Commission where he gained broad exposure to various matters in employment and industrial relations law. Joel has also worked in litigation at a large national commercial law firm where he gained broad exposure to general commercial dispute resolution.
Joel has gained broad litigation experience at Holding Redlich in small and large scale matters in Fair Work Australia, the Federal Court of Australia, the Federal Magistrates’ Court of Australia and the Magistrates’, County and Supreme Courts of Victoria, the Coroner’s Court and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Charles Power

Charles Power is the editor-in-chief of the Employment Law Practical Handbook. He is also a partner in the Employment and Industrial Relations department of Holding Redlich and has practised in employment and industrial relations since 1992.
Charles has a strong practice representing employers in all aspects of employment and industrial law and is accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a workplace relations specialist. He is a member of the advisory board to the Centre for Employment & Labour Relations Law, the University of Melbourne and the Australian Human Resources Institute.
Charles is a former associate to a Senior Deputy President of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission and a former adviser to a federal government minister. Charles has Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degrees, both from Monash University. He was the joint winner of the Industrial Arbitration Prize in 1992.

Corey Innes

Corey Innes has extensive experience in the field of workplace occupational health and safety assessments, training, audits and occupational monitoring programmes within Australia. His work assignments include the development and implementation of proactive occupational hygiene monitoring programmes, OHS Management system preparation, implementation and audits, chemical hazard investigations, injury and illness investigations and indoor air quality investigations.
Corey has extensive experience in workplace hazardous materials/substances assessment including asbestos, silica, rubber fume, formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) and welding fume. Corey’s OHS journey has involved work with both the public and private sectors in Australia and currently sees him coordinating organisation health and safety at St Vincents & Mercy Private Hospital in Melbourne. This variety of work has allowed Corey to develop a strong understanding of OHS issues faced by today’s employers and the challenges they face in providing a safe workplace.
Corey is a Chartered Professional Member of the Safety Institute of Australia and a Provisional Member of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists. Corey is also registered as a Lead Auditor (OHS) with the RABQSA.

Angela Godfrey

Kevin Jones

Kevin has been active in the area of occupational health and safety for over 20 years, has his own company, and has been managing the award-winning SafetyAtWorkBlog since February 2008.
For many years, Kevin published the SafetyATWORK magazine, a regular online publication for safety professionals that was distributed globally. From this developed a weekly OHS bulletin for Australian safety professionals. The bulletin led to a similar and very popular product being published for an OHS professional association for several years.
In 2005, Kevin wrote the editorial for The Journal of Occupational Health and Safety Australia and New Zealand – “A culture of terror: the risks of occupational violence”. He has also contributed to official OHS government guidances including the 1st edition of the WorkSafe Victoria publications “Manual Handling in the Food Industry” and “Dairy Safety – A Practical Guide”.
In late 2008, Kevin contributed regularly to the Employment Law Bulletin, a publication by LexisNexis Australia, and RTWMatters, a networking web-service for Return-To-Work Coordinators.
In January 2009, he was accepted as a correspondent for LabourStart – an online labour news service. He has had two opinion pieces published by Business Spectator, and Crikey.com has reprinted a couple of his SafetyAtWorkBlog articles. Kevin has been interviewed on the radio several times on OHS matters. In late 2009, he was invited to be a plenary speaker at the New South Wales Minerals Council conference on the theme of “Communicating Safety”.
Since mid-2010, Kevin has been advising the Victorian Department of Transport of OHS issues on various infrastructure projects and has recently joined the Regional Rail Link as a Specialist Safety Adviser.
